This is a nice opportunity, especially for Master’s students, but PhDs are also eligible. They must be in their last year of study.
Information from the Partnership for Public Service regarding a program they have for post-baccalaureate students. The program is administered by the federal Office of Personnel Management and was founded to assist agencies with succession planning. Students in their last year of master’s or doctoral study can apply (US citizens only) for a two year internship in one of 80 federal agencies.. During the two year period, candidates receive 160 hours of classroom training, developmental work assignments, optional rotational assignments, potential for accelerated promotions, and opportunities to network with government leaders. The application period for students is open from October 1 to October 15. As part of the application process, a faculty member must provide input that has to be submitted by October 31st.

AMELIA EARHART & ZONTA INTERNATIONAL
The Fellowships memorialize famed air pioneer and Zontian, Amelia Earhart, who disappeared over the Pacific in 1937. By remembering Amelia Earhart through this fellowship, Zonta International encourages and supports women to expand their horizons by pursuing aerospace-related sciences and aerospace engineering. There have been 1,297 Amelia Earhart Fellowships totaling over US $7 million awarded to 902 fellows worldwide. It is anticipated that 35 Fellowships will be awarded in 2011.
Women of any nationality are eligible. To apply for the fellowship, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Be registered in a full-time Ph.D./doctoral program in a qualifying area of science or engineering closely related to advanced studies in aerospace-related science or aerospace-related engineering. A letter of acceptance or verification of enrollment must be submitted with the application.
- Demonstrate a superior academic record at a recognized university or college with accredited courses in aerospace-related studies as verified by transcripts and recommendations. In programs where graduate transcripts are not provided as a matter of institution policy, please provide a statement of that policy from the registrar or other school official.
- Provide evidence of a well-defined research program in aerospace-related science or aerospace-related engineering as described in the application essay (in general scientific terms), the academic documents and publications.
- Clearly demonstrate the relationship of the research to aerospace and furnish verification of research program through at least one of the reference letters required with the application [i.e. research supervisor or advisor must be one of the referees].
- Applicant must be registered in a full-time Ph.D./doctorate program when funds are received in September.

To qualify for this position candidates must have these skills and experiences in their background:
·Education level required: PhD in EE/ECE/CS. Physical Sciences candidates with extensive research experience in the areas below will also be considered.
·Candidate must have 10 or more years of progressive experience in bottom up research (including, at a minimum, the last 3 years in Sustainable Energy) with a distinguished publication record.
·Candidate must be well recognized contributor in the Energy research community (involving Smart Grids/Micro Grids, Energy Storage Systems, Renewable Energy, Energy Management, etc… ). Knows the energy ecosystem.
·Must have strong written and verbal English communication and interpersonal skills as well as the proven ability to recruit and motivate a highly talented research staff.
·Able to relocate toCupertino,California. Frequent travel toPrinceton,N.J., is expected to collaborate with NECLA research groups based there.

Postdoctoral position in Organic Biogeochemistry
The University of Georgia (UGA) Departments of Marine Sciences and Microbiology invite applications for a postdoctoral associate position to join our on-going NSF-SIMO (Sapelo Island Microbial Observatory) research project. The primary objective of SIMO is improving our understanding of the fate of terrestrial and marine-derived dissolved organic matter (DOM) in the coastal ocean through a focus on bacterial community gene expression patterns. The position will involve the characterization of DOM composition and reactivity pools, and establish structure-activity relationships with the emphasis in gene expression patterns in natural bacteria communities. Candidates must have a degree in Organic Geochemistry, Environmental Organic Chemistry or a closely related field, with expertise in the use of mass spectrometry techniques to investigate molecular organic composition of complex matrices. Background in marine microbiology and/or ecological genomics is desirable. The applicant will work closely with Drs.
