By now you should recognize the signs of when you are about to leave your dissertation by the wayside. Have you been slacking off? You have the next four days to practice diligence, persistence and stamina. Whenever you think about slacking off don’t. Ask yourself what else you can do on your dissertation other than write. For example, can you create a table, a figure, input a reference, work on the bibliography, write the title page, the abstract, the acknowledgment page, can you download the deadlines for graduation? Basically can you take 5 minutes from feeling guilty and do something today to move your dissertation forward? Can you break your larger or medium-sized tasks down even further into manageable bite-size pieces?
I say stop waiting for you to feel-like writing your dissertation. That feeling might never show up. Or it might take a long time for you to feel that way again. You have to figure out how to write your dissertation when you don’t feel like it, when you are not motivated, when you just don’t want to do it anymore. Join us for the next four days and figure out how to overcome those negative emotions that might stall your progress.
